Erasmus+ project "Sustainability. Heritage. Health" aims to connect European cultural heritage with people's health and environmental protection. The project objectives include creating walking routes and a recipe book that emphasizes European culture, promote physical activity, mindfulness, healthy eating, and efforts toward sustainability goals. The walking routes, recipe book, and all project activities will be an available on a mobile app and a virtual platform for remote access. The National Health Service (NHS) recommends regular exercise, including at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week. This project seeks to link exercise with cultural heritage and healthy eating.
The walking routes will be based on established examples, such as the "West Highland Way" in Scotland and the official routes of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. This approach is believed to enhance economic and cultural opportunities in various European countries. The trails will also raise awareness about broader sustainability goals, such as water conservation in drier areas.
Four organizations are involved in this partnership. The project will create three different walking routes to appeal to a range of abilities, along with a recipe book featuring 40 recipes reflecting the local culinary heritage of the UK, Spain, Lithuania, and Greece. Three workshops will prepare participants for the walking routes and three cooking workshops will demonstrate the recipes. THe project targets adult educators, health professionals, and individuals with opportunities.
